Boosterthon

Kensington Boosterthon
February 12th, 2015
Mary Grace's school participated in a fun run to raise money for their classrooms. Each child was asked to find people to sponsor them for a dollar amount per lap that they ran. The event was timed and they said most kids will run between 30-35 laps in the time given.

Mary Grace took this event extra serious. She insisted on wearing her running gear, she went to bed early (her request) the night before, and she did stretches during breakfast!

The kids got t-shirts for the event and as they finished a lap they waited in a short line for a teacher to mark each lap on the back of their shirts before taking off again.

Mary Grace ran the ENTIRE time. She was one of a handful of kids that never walked. I was so proud of her determination!
At one point Mary Grace ran by me and said she had one lap to go until she hit 35 (which was the max number the shirt had marks for.) I assumed they would stop the kids or stop counting, but they started making tally marks on the top of the shirts.

Mary Grace ended up doing 55 laps! It was the most any girl in her class did, and she was only 2 laps behind the only other child (a boy) in her class that did more than her.

She was extremely excited about her results, but is already planning to "train" next year so that she'll have the most laps in her class! I have absolutely no idea where she gets this competitive spirit from (haha!)
