Olympic Inspiration

After watching the Olympics this summer, Mary Grace is determined to be a gold medalist. Her hope is that one day you can compete for a cheerleading gold.
Her list of backup possibilities include (but aren't limited to): gymnastics, swimming, trampolining, and 'that thing you do in a boat' (rowing?)
So imagine my surprise when she expressed an interest in playing soccer this fall. Apparently, if all else fails, a soccer gold metal would be 'okay' so- in her words- 'it wouldn't hurt to get good.'
Fortunately for us, she expressed her desire to play after most of the good/serious leagues had finished their registration. We ended up signing her up to play in our church league which works out PERFECT! Not only do they play indoors (which is wonderful after a season of playing in the cold and rain), but they only meet once a week. The teams practice for 20 minutes and then play a 40 minute game. At this age, I think it is enough!
 Pep talk with coach!

Mary Grace actually had a break away!
In her first game, she kicked the ball more times then all of last season combined. She looked relatively normal (she followed the action, tried to get in there, and seemed to have a general idea of which way to move the ball) and seemed super excited to be playing again.
Brent and I did notice one thing during the game- she is an incredibly fast runner!!! We might have to encourage her to go out for track and field (considering her lack of coordination- this might be her best shot at gold!)
