Mary Grace's 5th Birthday Party
at Wild Thyme Cooking School
August 11, 2012
Kids started out by decorating their own aprons-
Eva, Mary Grace and Braden
Mary Grace got to plan the menu for the day. We had endless options, but decided on two things that would be age appropriate and are also Mary Grace's favorites-
Strawberry Smoothies and Pizza!
The kids got to make the pizza dough (this was a big hit and a big mess!)
Eva, Annabelle and Mary Grace
Homemade dough and sauce, and then topped with several kinds of cheese.
When we were planning the party, Allison, the owner of Wild Thyme told me that the kids would be able to top the pizza with whatever they wanted. I didn't think much of it, but when we arrived and I saw the HUGE pile of prepped toppings I started to feel bad. I assumed at this age most kids would want cheese and possibly pepperoni.
Allison made it SO much fun! She told all the kids that the one rule is that they had to try 1 thing on their pizza that they've never tried on pizza before. And she encouraged them to make designs or silly faces. The kids had a blast decorating the pizzas with new toppings and then they actually ate them too!
Vaughn's Pizza was my favorite!
Miller had a fun time at the party too!
We asked our good friend, and babysitter- Rachel- to come to the party so we could focus on Mary Grace. It was SO helpful to have her there (although Miller did end up getting passed around a lot!)
Bella loved her new ingredient, olives, so much that when we went to her birthday party the next day at Chuck E Cheese, she asked for a pizza with black olives on it!
Enjoying their pizza!
(I didn't get a picture, but Mary Grace put pineapple, artichokes and spinach on hers)
After pizza they made butter cream icing (pink, of course) and got to decorate their own cupcakes.
Loved having so many sweet friends at the party!
Braden, Elena, Mary Grace, Addison, Bryce
Vaughn, Eva, Lydia, Annabelle and Bella
Happy Birthday Mary Grace!
Black sprinkles are lots of fun!
Sweet friends saying goodbye and thanks for coming-
Eva and Mary Grace
After the party we headed home and let Mary Grace open up all of her party presents. Mimzie, Pops and Nana were in town helping us celebrate. We cooked one of Mary Grace's favorite dinners- Mexican- and enjoyed a family night!
Mary Grace told everyone all day that her "real birthday party" was on Monday (obviously she meant birthDAY, but she got some kind of strange looks)
Thanks for everyone who helped make Saturday so special for Mary Grace!

LOVE THIS!!! I didn't know such a place existed!!
